My friend Darlene Charneco, who has been a constant source of inspiration, recently introduced me to the work of her father, the painter Nestor Charneco. I can’t wait to see these lush, saturated works in person some day. The convergence of utopian visions, cultural heritage, and flesh as subject result in some very beguiling works that, on occasion, simultaneously repulse and compel. I love the intensely clay-like sculptural and tactile effect he achieves. Combines with the lightly dispatched turquoise elements, many of his works achieve a distinctly southwestern feel.

Most of my artwork is mixed-media acrylic collage which rely heavily on texture for a sculptural/tactile effect. Themes can range from the purely abstract to semi-realistic with overtones of history, archaeology, geology, as well as some surrealistic aspects. Most are done on canvas, while others use wood or board as support. Sizes vary from 12″ to 5 feet.
